- Digital radio is widely used due to better quality sounds and wider access to more stations.
- Digital technology allows media organisation to offer audiences many ways to experience a programme in addition to listening on a radio.

-The Archers is the worlds longest running radio soap opera
-Broadcast since 1951 , it was famously billed as 'an everyday story of country folk' and is now promoted as , a contemporary' drama in a rural setting.
-Very carefully researched , farming community , issues to do with living in the country side and the worldwide issues
-is a drama but not quite as you know it

Because people might be working night shifts or working so having multiple time frames creates a wider audience for multiple people as everyone is not able to listen at the same time this offers a lot of flexibility for everyone and if someone misses apart of the podcast they can watch it at the other time.

-although the one original function of the show was to educate farmers , it soon gained a large audience and source of entertainment for a wider audience not just for audience from the rural communities.
-however, the show still prides itself on the quality of its research and its ability to portray real rural life.

The Archers is severally popular because it shows what women are out doing , since it is mainly a women strongly based podcast they attract in a massive amount of female audiences such as both young and old , the fact that women used to have to stay at home and be house wife's this gave them the time every day to listen to this allowing then to have a much larger view it could also be very comforting to lot of women because they are stuck art home everyday and it is every day at reasonable hours and it is extremely flexible, the fact that the podcast is only 13 minutes long allows a short podcast that keeps you intrigued with all the information , the twists, the cliff hangers and much more with continues to this day t bring in a larger audience, they talk a lot about relationships and show the positives and negatives in a relationship , the family issues , the drama it brings in such as abuse, rape, family problems and alcohol problems this makes it drama which draws in a larger audience then people expect.
